Social Psychological Manifestations of Electronic Communication
Our Swiss Bureau
31 DEC
Surveys in the US have revealed amazing facts about the behaviour of young adults in social situations. There has been an enormous increase in more violent and anti-social behaviour amongst youth over the last ten years.

Sociologists attribute this to the growth of more electronic communication. Electronic chat rooms & email have become the norm for communication today. But these modes are more unsupervised, in social terms. There is a growing incidence of non-conforming behaviours in direct results of this phenomenon. Th youth of today are not used to the same normative social behaviour that their counterparts ten years ago were used to. However, the correlation is stronger for males more so than females and for low sociable users more so than high sociable users.

In short, the extensive utilization of the Internet along with its hypertextual communication architecture has created a genuine need for conducting social science research and for assessing its relationship with human interaction patterns and psychological phenomena.
